Celebrity Trend: Oval Solitaires – 4 Reasons Oval Engagement Rings Are Winning

by Anonymous (not verified)

ICYMI, Justin Bieber is engaged to Hailey Baldwin and he popped the question with an estimated 6 to 10 carat oval stunner. Yes, we are still SHOOK by it all.

“Justin did have a hand in selecting the diamond,” according to Jack Solow of the New York City-based jeweler Solow & Co, where Bieber purchased the ring (for supposedly half a mil—like we said, SHOOK).

In the end, Solow said Bieber wanted “something that would gracefully accentuate Hailey’s beautiful shaped hands,” and that they “settled on an oval stone that was just exceptional in its length and grace.”

So why chose oval? Here’s a few ring selfies that need no explanations but we’re giving you reasons anyway :)

1. Oval diamonds look bigger than you’d think. The surface area of the shape of an oval is actually larger than a round cut.

2. Since they’re more tapered than round, they tend to flatter the finger by making it look slimmer.

3. They’re just as brilliant as a round cut diamond, so your sparkly factor is still WAY up.

4. Oh oval, where are you now when I need you?
